The Committee agreed to:

Issue a report on the issue of incineration of waste, and request a Plenary debate.

Write to the Minister for Environment and Sustainable Development to ask him to consider the weight of support for this petition when considering the Committee’s letter calling for the Cardiff Incinerator plans to be called in;

Write to those who have given evidence to Committee on this subject to seek their views on the modelling used to inform decisions in relation to incinerators.

Write to the Minister to seek further information on the background to the Llanymynech and Pant Bypass and to ask whether he would be willing to work with the relevant UK Government Minister to resolve the problems described the petitioners;

Write to the UK Government Secretary of State for Transport to ask whether she would be willing to work with the Welsh Government to resolve the problem, copying in Owen Paterson MP.

Inform the lead petitioner of the actions the Committee is taking and consider communicating the Committee’s actions more widely once the dates of the consultation are known.

Write to the Older People’s Commissioner for Wales to seek her views on whether the rights of older people in the community are being undermined by the changes in bus provision;

Write to the Minister to ask whether he has any plans to review the situation regarding the provisions of the Transport Acts that prohibit publicly funded services operating in areas where they would compete with commercial services, and to ask him to examine the operation of the Bwcabus service in Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion.
