The Committee was established on 22 June 2011 with a remit to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising expenditure, administration and policy matters encompassing: the physical, mental and public health of the people of Wales, including the social care system.

News

• The Welsh Government’s response to the stillbirths report was published on 30 April 2013. A Plenary debate on the report will be held on Wednesday 8 May 2013.

• The Committee published its Stage 1 report on Human Transplantation (Wales) Bill – March 2013

• The Committee has published its Stage 1 report on the Recovery of Medical Costs for Asbestos Diseases (Wales) Bill – 7 March 2013.

• Royal Assent was given to the Food Hygiene Rating (Wales) Act 2013 on 4 March 2013

• The Committee established a sub-committee to consider The Smoke-free Premises etc. (Wales) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 on 29 November 2012. The sub-committee is considering evidence on the Regulations jointly with a sub-committee of the Enterprise and Business Committee.

• The Committee will report in due course on its inquiry into the Implementation of the National Service Framework for diabetes in Wales and its future direction
