The Committee was established on 22 June 2011 with a remit to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising expenditure, administration and policy matters encompassing: the physical, mental and public health of the people of Wales, including the social care system.

News

 

The Committee has written to the Minister for Health and Social Services as part of the short inquiry into the NHS complaints process in Wales. The Minister’s response will be published once received.

 

The Committee has received correspondence from the Minister for Health and Social Services in relation to the Health Professional Education Investment Review.

 

The Committee has received additional information from the Minister for Health and Social Services in relation to its inquiry into progress made to date on implementing the Welsh Government’s Cancer Delivery Plan.

 

The Committee has agreed its outline work programme for September to December 2014. The programme is subject to amendment at the Committee’s discretion.

 

The Committee published its report on Orthodontic services in Wales on 15 July 2014.

 

The Committee has issued a call for evidence on its inquiry into new psychoactive substances ("legal highs"). The consultation will close on 26 September 2014. Take part in the Committee’s survey on legal highs (closing 12 September 2014).

 

The Committee published its report on the inquiry into the availability of bariatric services on 21 May 2014. The Welsh Government’s response was published on 9 July. The debate on the Committee report took place in Plenary on Wednesday 16 July 2014.

 

The Committee has issued a call for evidence on its Post-legislative scrutiny of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010. The consultation will close on 12 September 2014.

 

The call for written evidence on the Committee’s follow-up inquiry into the contribution of community pharmacy to health services closed on 23 May 2014. The written responses have been published. The oral evidence sessions will follow in the Autumn.
