The Committee was established on 22 June 2011 with a remit to examine legislation and hold the Welsh Government to account by scrutinising expenditure, administration and policy matters encompassing: the physical, mental and public health of the people of Wales, including the social care system.

The Committee has published its responses to the Inquiry into new psychoactive substances (“legal highs”).


The Committee has published a report on its inquiry into progress made to date on implementing the Welsh Government’s Cancer Delivery Plan.  A summary report is also available.  Information about the inquiry’s progress so far is available on the inquiry’s Storify.


The Committee has published its responses to the Post-legislative scrutiny of the Mental Health (Wales) Measure 2010.


The Committee undertook informal engagement activity on its inquiry into new psychoactive substances in Wrexham, Caerphilly and Merthyr Tydfil on 2 October.


The Committee has written to the Minister for Health and Social Services as part of the short inquiry into the NHS complaints process in Wales. The Minister’s response will be published once received.


The Committee has agreed its outline work programme for September to December 2014. The programme is subject to amendment at the Committee’s discretion.
