Personal history
Llyr was educated at Ysgol Bro Myrddin and Aberystwyth University.
Professional background
He started his career as a youth worker before going on to work for the Wales Youth Agency and the Council for Wales of Voluntary Youth Services. Later, he became a project manager for an economic development company.
Llyr has also been a Consultancy Manager for the National Trust in Wales.
Political history
Llyr contested the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire seat in the 2003 Assembly election and also stood for Parliament in the seat in the 2001 General Election as well as contesting Clwyd West in the 2010 General Election.
He has previously served as a Carmarthen Town Councillor and as Mayor.
